WHAT IS THE SIOUXLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION? A community foundation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization created by and for the people of a specific geographic area that serves as a vehicle to connect people who care with causes that matter. To carry out the objectives of donors, contributions from individuals, families, corporations, organizations, private foundations, and governmental entities are carefully invested for maximum return and growth with the income from endowed funds used to make grants in support of programs and organizations that enhance the quality of life in the greater Siouxland tri-state area.Donors do not give to a community foundation, they give to their community . . . through a community foundation. Donors can make a gift to an existing fund or establish a new fund at the community foundation by contributing a variety of assets. Endowed gifts to the community foundation are gifts that continue to give forever because only the earnings are used to benefit the Siouxland area through annual grants.
