The Sir Ratan Tata Institute (RTI) was established in 1928 by Lady Navajbai Tata and the Stri Zarthostri Mandal for providing employment for women. RTI has set up activities for women in cooking, tailoring, embroidery and Montessori teacher training units. The Institute provides employment for poor women, training them to earn their own living, realize the dignity of labor and make them self-reliant and self-respecting members of the Society. RTI continues to provide employment to those staff members who have reached superannuation age. They are given suitable work so that in their old age they can be as financially independent as possible. The Institute has been successful in its operations and making a difference to many lives through the years with the help of its loyal customers and well-wishers.RTI's impact on its workers is reflected in the self-confidence, financial security, and social benefit that it provides to those who could otherwise have been deprived of opportunities for employment.
