Nonprofit Organization Management - Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Smart Commute Foundation (SCF) is an organisation that is deeply entrenched in the sustainability space. It conceptualizes, details, and implements programs that promote a healthier, greener and happier city by encouraging people to adopt cycling as a means of daily commute. The Foundation is based on 4 primary pillars: Advocacy, Policy Intervention, Road Safety and Execution. The Foundation works closely with Civic authorities, Corporate entities, Educational Institutions and citizens of Mumbai to bring about a revolutionary change by adopting non-motorised means of transport, with a special emphasis on cycling. Its goal is to encourage, facilitate, train and organize participation, in events and programs that contribute directly to a reduction of the Carbon Footprint, and have related positive impact on health, wellness, morale, productivity and traffic congestion. Its Founder is Firoza Suresh, who is backed by a dedicated team, and guided by a knowledgeable Advisory Committee. Under the Cycle Chala City Bacha - Smart Commute Foundation has initiated the Bicycle Councillor Program supported by the Dutch NGO, BYCS based in Amsterdam. We have a clear & powerful mandate of 50X30, which means 50% of the commute trips should be on bicycles by 2030. With this mandate + our 10 years of experience in advocacy, various cycling events, grass root work & strong community outreach we announced an ambitious VISION - To make Mumbai the Cycling Capital of India by 2025.
