Smart-Girl is a Colorado nonprofit organization that empowers girls to make smart choices and become confident, capable and self-reliant young women. Through its program structure, activity-based curriculum and mentor-led format, Smart-Girl helps girls to: become positive change agents for themselves and others, develop emotional intelligence and empathy skills, learn and practice critical thinking and problem-solving skills, increase self-awareness and values that lead to success in life. Smart-Girl allows adolescent girls to discover new sources of inner strength and self-worth and to nurture positive hopes and dreams for their future. The activity-based program gives girls the chance to practice new skills, talk about what they have learned and focus on listening, empathy and understanding others.Primary AudienceGirls between the ages of 10 and 14 from all socio-economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds.Secondary AudienceYoung women trained to become mentors for Smart-Girl participants.Smart-Girl envisions a world where all girls have the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to reach their highest potential.
