Smart-Pig.com was the first trading HCSTC lender to be authorised by the FCA on 4th August 2015. Smart-Pig.com has been lending to students as an alternative to payday loans since 2012. Founders Tom Parks and Shreiff Benaziza launched the company from a university bedroom after they realised that lenders were not treating their customers fairly.Smart-Pig has always featured a number of safeguards for our customers which have placed us well to adjust to FCA requirements.The company has gone on to win a national advertising award as well as being a finalist for Credit Today's Alternative Lender of the Year 2014 and 2015. Since 2012 we estimate Smart-Pig has saved students over a million pounds in late payment fees and interest compared to other HCSTC lenders.
