Headquartered at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney and with research nodes in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, the Smart Services CRC Pty Ltd was established as an incorporated company in July 2007 with operations commenced in July 2008. Smart Services was awarded $30.8 million to be invested over 7 years for research and development to support innovation in Australia's services economy. Cooperative Research Centres exist to meet industry challenges and get ideas out of the University laboratory to solve major industry problems. The Smart Services CRC represents a $120 million investment in Australian R&D, this includes a $30 million CRC Program grant from the Commonwealth Government. This will be used by Smart Services to deliver outcomes aimed at returning at least $250 million to the Australian economy by 2016 through the Services sectors. Our Participants as investors and shareholders drive the focus of our R&D programs in digital media, financial services, education and health. Our research community is multi-discipline covering social sciences, software engineering, business, law, marketing and computer science.
