SMI GmbH is part of the SMI Group and has been Europewide manufacturer of precision thermoset parts for over 20 years, with over 6 million pieces produced and delivered annually.Its production plant counts on 11 injection molding presses with clamping force ranging from 100 to 350 tons, suitable for both large and low-medium volume production and adaptable for articles with complex geometries.In addition, at the customer's request, the parts can be further processed in order to reach top levels of hardness, mechanical strength, surface quality and dimensional tolerances. In fact, SMI offers the customers also further treatments for molded articles such as stabilization, lapping and quality control. Due to these procedures the parts can reach tolerances within 3 µm in terms of dimensional measures and surface quality. That's also the reason why SMI's main business is currently related to parts of Gas Meter / Regulators and Petrol Meter.SMI production line is continuously monitored and checked by its Quality Control Department using Optical, Hardness Control, Pulled Surface Measurement and Laser Control Machines. SMI works together with its customers starting from the design and the project of article, eventually producing the mold for the thermosetting and thermoplastics, choosing the appropriate raw material, delivering the first set of samples for Customer approval and, once approved, starting the production.
