The sNoise Research Laboratory (sNRL) is a science and technology research, development, and innovation laboratory and consultation service founded by Dr. Jeffrey Smigelski in Dayton, Ohio in October 2013. The overall vision of sNRL is revolutionary innovation through the application of sNoise science and research to both current and new technologies within three key focus areas: products (enhanced sensors, software algorithms, digital "smart" filters, chipsets, Fractional Order Control Systems), research (focused on the conversion of existing and the development of new technologies), and realistic simulations (to discover and model the internal dynamics of natural or physical systems through a quantitative, equation-based approach using novel mathematical methods, computational experiments, and digital signal processing techniques to better understand and illuminate the world in which we live). As the science of noise, the term sNoise describes the science and mathematics behind Fractional Scaling Digital Filters (FSDF) (patent pending) first introduced in the dissertation of Dr. Smigelski. FSDF represent a game-changing platform technology for the digital age and show great potential to become the standard of a variety of industries as the next generation in digital filter technology. FSDF constitute a third fundamental type of digital filter (the other two types being finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR) filters), and given their increased accuracy and efficiency, FSDF render similar conventional FIR and IIR digital signal processing filters obsolete. The development of FSDF offers the potential to revolutionize the way in which we currently see, model, filter, and control digital signals and systems, represents a remarkable technological advancement over conventional digital filter designs, and holds a high probability to become a disruptive technology as electronics and technology that incorporate FSDF become ubiquitous.
