THE GLOBAL ISSUE:The largest problem with children and blindness is that they are often diagnosed too late.OUR SOLUTION:So Kids Can See is promoting and implementing early vision screening programs across the globe to help alleviate blindness due to late diagnosis.HOW WE CREATE OUR PROJECTS:In regions that have access and are covered under their health care system, So Kids Can See we will promote annual vision screening and retinal examinations from age 6 months to help avoidable unnecessary vision loss and blindness.In regions of poverty that do not have access and are not covered under their healthcare system we will educate primary school teachers and establish community resources where children can be referred. We will provide teachers with the tools to conduct annual vision screening to provide a sustainable solution to find and have eye disease treated early and develop community eye centres where an optometrist can further assess these children, while providing the community with access to free eye screening and affordable prescription glasses.
