Health, Wellness & Fitness - Bangor, Maine, United States
Husson University School of Physical Therapy is pleased to announce the development of Husson's first pro-bono rehabilitation clinic. This clinic was pioneered by School of Physical Therapy Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education Kimberly Steinbarger, with inspiration from other academic programs with similar clinics. The clinic will be primarily run by the students in the professional phase of the physical therapy curriculum, and will be overseen by a selected student Board of Directors and faculty members. Treatments will take place at Dragonfly Physical Therapy on 840 Hammond Street in Bangor. The Board of Directors and Steinbarger have been working closely with the staff at Dragonfly to develop the pro-bono program. The goal of the clinic is to provide pro-bono care for residents of the greater Bangor area who may not otherwise be able to afford physical therapy. Additionally, the clinic will provide students the opportunity for hands-on experience and peer guidance. Our long term vision of the clinic is to expand to include other health care students, such as occupational therapy, nursing, pharmacy and counseling services, as well as the ability to provide services here on campus!
