Progetto SMOB is Social and Smart Mobility research proposal funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, through the National Operational Programme for "Research and Competitiveness" 2007-2013.The project was launched in 2012 few months after the official award nomination in Rome, held by Francesco Profumo, who was at the time Italy's Minister of Education, University and Research. The goal of Progetto SMOB, already achieved, was to design, build and deliver an innovative social network focused on smart mobility. Smart Mobility obtained by combining a Social Network, with a Carpooling platform empowered by a break-through optimization algorithm.
