Social Responsibility Team (SoRT) Details
The inception of this team dates back to the year 2008, when a small group of socially enthusiastic students in their final year at VESIT came together to organize a minor fundraising event for a local NGO, under the technical festival, Praxis. The year 2013-2014 was SoRT's third year as a part of the student council of the college. Being inducted into the council in the year 2011-2012, SoRT has come a long way since then. In its first year as a council, SoRT won the hearts of many. The major highlight of that year was the adoption of the village ‘Chinchpada' near Atgaon station in Thane district. Vaccination drives were held for the kids in the village and also two computers were donated for the school situated there. Apart from this major event, there a plethora of other events like a ‘Go Green Campaign', Blood donation camps, SoRT Week, visit to ADAPT school, SoRT Premier League during the sports festival of the college. SoRT scaled greater heights in the year 2012-2013. Many new events were conducted. The major event being conducted was the installation of a bore well in Chinchpada to solve the water crisis of the village. Beach Cleaning drive conducted in the odd semester was yet another highlight. The event saw a huge participation from the college. The efforts were in a similar direction during the year 2013-2014. With many new events being included, SoRT has impressed every one with its work and promises to continue doing so in the upcoming years too. SoRT aims to reach out to needy NGOs and individuals and inculcate the spirit of social work among the students of VESIT."Be The Wings The World Needs !
