Social Currency has a big dream - to change inter-generational statistics associated with kids who are born into homes with poverty, crime, violence, low socio-economic families, low educational attainment and other risk factors. Our core business is accounting and business advisory, but it is purpose driven for social impact. 10% from every invoice and up to 50% of profits is committed to youth programs empowering success in kiwi kids regardless of risk factors. The aim is to give kids who are considered 'at risk' the ability to understand their mind and body, the importance of health and well-being, and really implement a solid foundation for life with a focus on the growth mindset and resilience. We've connected with professionals in NZ and Australia who are well respected in this field such as Susan Mackie, former CEO of the De Bono Institute and resilience author and researcher Sarah Tillott of The School of Living. Susan works globally with Professor Carol Dweck who is behind the development of the Growth Mindset. We aim to be a sustainable way of helping kids who are about to become a statistic - to start a different path where they control their future success.Social Currency aims to reach many students across the country; particularly those at risk with a focus on educational, valuable and lasting social impact. We also believe in partnering with other organisations who are established in youth work and will continue to look to find appropriate groups for this, with an in-school pilot and tech development our current priorities.Every client increases the impact and influences positive changes. There is a current statistic in New Zealand that shows that more than 9 in 10 children with a parent in prison will become a criminal or end up in prison themselves. I want to change that. I want children who are living with risk factors to be able to see outside of their situation, feel in control of their actions and behaviour, and choose success.Lisa
