The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is an umbrella body licensing professional institutions to register their members as Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) registrants. There are now over 7,500 registered environmental professionals across the globe.Both professional registrations above require individuals to demonstrate their skills, experience and knowledge of the environment and sustainability by demonstrating how they meet the key competences outlined in the application process. 24 professional bodies are currently licensed to carry out assessments for registering a CEnv, covering engineering, construction, environmental management, ecology, environmental sciences, agriculture, fisheries, water, energy, wastes and resource management, surveying, arboriculture and forestry. Only professional members of recognised institutions are eligible to register as a CEnv, REnvP or REnvTech.
