Solar 21 develops renewable energy power plants in the UK and Italy. Headquartered in Dublin, we are an expanding company with a team of over 20 staff and consultants.BackgroundMichael Bradley founded Solar 21 in 2010 in order to give private investors the opportunity to invest in renewable energy – an asset class that had the potential to provide excellent returns not correlated to the turbulence of the property and equity markets, and which was not easily accessible to individual investors.Following extensive research into the renewable energy sector, Solar 21 began acquiring and managing solar photovoltaic energy farms in Europe. TodaySolar 21 has broadened its interests to include biomass, biogas/anaerobic digestion (AD) and energy from waste (EfW). In early 2018 our first grand-scale power plant was commissioned; Tansterne Advanced Biomass is an award-winning 22-MW plant near Hull in the UK, powered entirely by waste wood. Our portfolio of projects currently under development includes a number of AD plants and an EfW plant, all in the UK, and a large portfolio of EfW and AD projects in the development pipeline. The Tansterne Advanced Biomass Plant was named renewable energy project of the year at the Humber Renewables Awards 2017.Tansterne Advanced Biomass was shortlisted in the vest project category at the British Renewable Energy Awards 2018.
