Solar AquaGrid LLC is a project development and envisioneering studio based in Marin County, California. Founded by pro-social and sustainability entrepreneurs Jordan Harris and Robin Raj, the firm is dedicated to reimagining the potential of California's aqueducts and accelerating the adoption of innovative water-energy nexus solutions. Harris and Raj have worked together for two decades on a variety of pro-social and sustainability initiatives on behalf of NRDC, Global Green, Green Sports Alliance, Rock the Vote, and EVgo, many through Bay Area social impact agency Citizen Group. Together, the two partners recognized the untapped opportunity to put a lid on evaporation by shading California canals, as is done in Europe, where canals are lined with tree cover, and in India, where canals are being covered with solar panels. They have inspired a movement testing solar panels over canals in the U.S. Solar AquaGrid is currently guiding development of Solar over Canal pilot projects across the American West, including Project Nexus, a public-private-academic collaboration between the Department of Water Resources, Turlock Irrigation District, and UC Merced in California's Central Valley.
