SoLight Africa is a Ugandan-based company dedicated towards providing high-quality solar lamps to rural Ugandans. We provide an affordable, clean alternative for 30 million Ugandans who currently use expensive, toxic, and environmentally harmful kerosene for lighting, By enabling local entrepreneurs to distribute these lamps with affordable financing, SoLight Africa has been able to achieve incredibly high distribution densities. We offer products targeted towards off-the-grid customers and directly address the largest barriers Ugandans face in the off-grid solar market – a lack of trust in solar energy and a lack of capital. Entrepreneurs are equipped with award-winning SunKing Eco and SunKing Pro Easy Buy solar lamps embedded with Angaza Design Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) technology; smart phones and cables that are compatible with Angaza Design's Activator App to connect solar lamps and manage the PAYG accounts; extensive and ongoing sales, marketing and customer support training and material.Our company has received considerable recognition, including the 2015 D-Prize, which supports entrepreneurs who increase access to proven poverty interventions. Likewise, the PAYG business model is becoming increasingly valuable, where SoLight Africa is perfectly positioned to feed new customers to the incumbent SHS giants, and can offer them a valued field presence.
