SOLKAR SOLAR INDUSTRY LIMITED, was started in the year 1984, by Mr.K.E. RAGHUNATHAN, an engineer with specialization in the field of solar energy, as a first generation entrepreneur. SOLKAR remains to be the oldest existing company in the solar sector in ASIA. The company has its manufacturing facility at AMBATTUR INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, CHENNAI, INDIA. Initially, the company was started for manufacturing of SOLAR WATER HEATING SYSTEMS for domestic and Industrial use. The company is proud to secure the first ISI certification of the product in the country in the private sector and has installed nearly about 75000 square feet of solar collectors for water heating and about 20000 square feet in Solar PV modules in the field in the last 30 years covering various domestic and industrial applications and proud to have satisfied over 150000 customers and over 27 different applications in solar energy. Most of our products are developed as FIRST in the market and some of our products enjoy being the ONLY maker of the product in India, even today. In the year 1993, the company entered into a partnership with a German professor Dr.SCHWARZER, for the manufacturing of SOLAR MEAL MAKER for the world market, with his technical and Financial support. This product is the invention of Dr.SCHWARZER, and was being manufactured only in INDIA for the world market.
