Sol. One is a Belgium-based company that specializes in automating avionics certification. The company has developed novel software and hardware platform that automates the DO-178C process, reducing the effort to write a DAL-A application by up to 80%. This technology has been reviewed and approved by EASA as a valid method of conducting avionics certification and offers a dramatic reduction in software development time and cost.Sol. One's technology is based on a new computer language, "Sol," which takes in system-level requirements and compiles them directly into a binary file. Simultaneously, the platform creates all required certification documentation, enabling users to conduct a rapid and agile code iteration while remaining within a certified environment. A series of standard cockpit instruments are available that are pre-built using Sol. Still, the platform is flexible such that any user can design custom instruments independently, with minimal effort. Sol. One offers a series of DAL-A avionics computers that pre-integrate this technology. These computers are amongst the most advanced on the market and offer minimal size, weight, power consumption, and cost. They are designed specifically for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and include optional WiFi for ground operations and 4G for above-city dynamic information exchange. Sol. One's technology has been approved by certification authorities and is already being used in real applications. In 2021, the company was most recently involved in the certification of the first EASA Type 1 rated large BVLOS UAV and its ground station.
