SolvED is an equity-centered organization committed to providing access to educational services, specifically to students who have been historically underserved by the public education system. We recognize, communicate, and develop the importance of the family's role in a student's education. We distinguish between school and education, which allows a more fluid experience for the family and the student.As as our mission is to enlighten families in communities of need, we begin that mission in East Austin, Pflugerville and Round Rock within historically mistreated, mismanaged, and under-supported areas. SolvED has a vision of empowering these communities so that the fruits of Austin's growth will be available for all communities. Our primary service for community members is comprehensive tutoring. Comprehensive tutoring is a holistic approach to education. The tutoring identifies a student's goals, sense of self, barriers, and struggles. This includes monitoring and acting on academic progress, emotional state, mental capacity, executive functioning, and the students' goals and interests in all avenues of life. Tutors identify the learning and studying styles that best fit each individual student, which is a template for learning that will last a lifetime. We encourage our students and their families to think outside of the box by focusing on lifelong goals, projects, or expectations.For educators and those looking to become educators, we are partnering with local education organizations and universities to pool those individuals and provide training. Effective tutoring requires skilled, experienced tutors. SolvED provides all our tutors with an immersive training program. This allows our tutors to develop their educational and professional practices from a place of empathy, understanding and context. It creates the setting that allows for the trust necessary for successful tutoring.
