Our Background StorySomerset Surgical Services established at Weston General Hospital in 2012. Our directors, both Consultant Surgeons, felt it necessary to ensure that NHS care closer to home was available to all in our local community and to support the sustainability of Weston General Hospital. Working in collaboration with the Trust we offer specialties which complement and enhance those already available at Weston General Hospital, offering local patient choice and making a significant contribution to sustaining local NHS services. Services provided by SSS at WGH include Orthopaedic Surgery, Cataract Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Lumbar Spinal Surgery and Oral Surgery. Outreach clinic appointments at Mendip Vale and Portishad are also available, Why choose SSS? In addition to offering high quality care, flexible appointments and a competitive waiting time, patients receive a local and friendly service with designated patient pathway coordinators throughout their journey. Somerset Surgical Services undertakes all surgery at Weston General Hospital and has full access to the HDU and ITU facilities on site. We are fully compliant with CQC regulations and our most recent feedback shows that over 98.5% of patients would recommend our services to family and friends. As a local company with employees living within the Weston area, engagement with the local community is a key component of our company ethos. SSS are proud to have contributed to a number of causes over the years which have included Springboard Community Group, Charlton Farm Children's hospice and the Weston General Hospital Scanner Appeal, all nominated by our own staff.
