Serving the Community for 3 GenerationsSomerville Lumber opened for business in nearby Somerville, NJ in 1935. Founded by Abe Schumer, the business originally sold building materials reclaimed from demolished buildings. As business began to grow, we moved to it's current location in Bridgewater.Abe's son, Jack took over the business and was instrumental in modernizing and expanding the company. Based on a culture of Customer Service, Somerville Lumber was hugely successful as a provider of quality building materials to both the contractor and to homeowners. Jack's wife, Susan, joined the company as business began to grow and helped to enhance the product lines from her understanding of the customer's perspective. The business continues to grow as our decking department is now the DeckCenter and moved to occupy its own space 2 doors down. With 6000 square feet of indoor decking and outdoor living displays, it is one of the largest of its kind in New Jersey. New for spring of 2017, the 2nd Deck Center location in Flemington will open with over 2000 square feet of indoor displays and 2000 square feet of out door displays making this one of the most unique out door living displays in the industry.
