SonoClear AS has developed a fluid to provide better ultrasound images during brain tumor surgery. SonoClear® Acoustic Coupling Fluid is to be used instead of physiological saline and makes it easier for the surgeon to interpret the ultrasound images during the procedures when critical choices have to be made. SonoClear® mimics the acoustic properties of normal brain tissue, and with the use of the product, the surgeon will be able to more easily see the interface between tumor and normal tissue. This is very important as total removal of the tumor - if it can be done safely - is associated with increased survival and improved quality of life.SonoClear was established in 2016 as a spin off from the Ultrasound and Image-Guided Therapy Centre in Trondheim. The Trondheim area in Central Norway is considered one of the top medical ultrasound clusters in the world, with several prominent institutions and companies.
