Sotto Zero Caffe' Gelateria was founded by Giorgio Klinar. Growing up in Roma, Italia, Giorgio spent his youth working at his father's gelateria, L'Estro del Gelato. It was there where Giorgio learned the "ins and outs" of the ice cream business along with authentic Italian recipes and techniques passed down from his father. At the age of 16, Giorgio immigrated to the United States with his mother, brother and sister. He worked at a well-known ice cream parlour in northern New Jersey, where he learned more about American-style ice cream. Soon after, Giorgio joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably for 5 years. In 2008, Giorgio decided to fulfill his dream and bring his father's gelato to New Jersey. After months of careful planning, Sotto Zero became reality. Sotto Zero means "Below Zero" in Italian, and if you've visited the shop, you'll notice that the store theme stays true to the name. An icy blue coats the cinderblock walls, so that you can enjoy your tasty treats on a hot summer day inside of an igloo! Sotto Zero's mascot, Nino Il Pinguino, also adds to the "cool" factor.Beyond 18 flavors of gelato, Giorgio also makes 16 flavors of American-style ice cream,16 flavors of Italian ice, soft ice cream, tiramisus, ice cream and gelato cakes, and other novelties such as ice cream sandwiches and chocolate covered bananas--all made on premises. Sotto Zero also offers a full espresso bar, where you can enjoy an espresso, cappuccino or latte. The opening of Sotto Zero on April 10, 2009 represents a culmination of dedication, hard work and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Giorgio looks forward to new friendships and many anniversaries to come. So stop in, meet Giorgio, and give your taste buds an Italian vacation. We're sure you will find yourself saying, "Mamma Mia! It's the best!"
