IntroductionA survey of 1,535 primary school children drawn from schools in Bangalore city found that 18% and 15% suffered from psychological disturbance and learning disability, respectively. Learning problems were associated with a low quality of academic work, poor concentration, not carrying out tasks, low motivation and underachievement. Many of us seek support from friends and family, while it's important it's not always possible. Even as adults it can be scary to ask for help, imagine how daunting it must be for children?A child experiencing a mental health problem, or experiencing something they don't understand; how can they possibly know where to turn? What do we focus on?Capacity building in children and adolescents will include provision of adequate education, promotion of good mental health, development of creativity and life skills via proactive workshops which include:Self-awarenessSelf-managementSocial awarenessRelationship skillsResponsible decision-makingWhy choose us?The youth's well-being and mental health remains patchy and overall quite bleak. All schools should share the same ethos that every child deserves to be happy, safe and successful at school. Students who have better health are known to be better educated. So anything can promotes the well-being of students would be beneficiary to all stakeholders (parents, teachers, communities and students themselves). This clearly highlights the need for workshops surrounding wellbeing and mental health in schools. We at Soul Support recognize this need for preventive/proactive workshops that are the most effective interventions and support networks that take place early on.This is so that all the stakeholders can identify and help mitigate problems before they manifest into problems later on in the classroom.
