Just as a natural watershed directs water via streams and rivers into a lake or bay, the mission of the South Hillsborough Economic Development (SHED) Council is to direct new business enterprise into the communities of South Hillsborough County. There is an interesting social phenomena coming out of Australia; the Community Shed: an actual place where people can gather together in their own space to talk, share skills, swap ideas, solve problems or just discuss life in general. The membership is diverse too. People from all backgrounds, ethnic and social mixes can enjoy a Community Shed, bringing their unique cultural characteristics to enliven the activities. The common theme in all Sheds is about people feeling useful and contributing to their communities, learning or sharing their skills, making friends, networking and availing themselves of information, programs and opportunities. The South Hillsborough Economic Development (SHED) is a virtual place where real people can come together online and through occasional meetings to share resources and work together for the economic wellbeing of the South County. We aim to send out to the surrounding world the message of the economic advantages to locating and relocating their businesses in this area.
