Farming - Montrose, Colorado, United States
South River Aquaponics is an organic sustainable indoor farm. We are based out of Montrose, Colorado in a 14,040 square foot greenhouse facility utilizing aquaponics as our main food production system. Aquaponics is a way of combining aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (growing plants in water) into one symbiotic system. We will be raising Nile Tilapia in the fish tanks, which are connected via filtration tanks, to our hydroponic, or raft tanks, where we will grow fresh Spinach and Basil. Our state of the art facility is also home to a 20 foot by 40 foot mushroom den where we will focus on Shiitake & Miiatake mushrooms. South River Aquaponics has also developed vertical grow towers designed for Garlic, Shallot and Onion production. Each of our 24 vertical grow towers is able to grow roughly 224 plants with green onions also growing on the tops of each tower! The aquaponics system does create a fish waste sludge (fish waste concentrate). By separating clean water from sludge waste water we can provide our fish a cleaner environment than normally offered in nature. This results in a MUCH cleaner tasting fish in the end. The remaining fish waste sludge is then used as a base by South River Aquaponics to brew the world's first Organic Hydroponic Fertilizer!! Along side the fertilizer we have also created the world's first organic cloning gel which boasts 100% success rates when used in an aeroponic cloner. Asexual plant reproduction is now possible without synthetics! SOUTH RIVER AQUAPONICS IS A CUTTING EDGE SUSTAINABLE ORGANIC FOOD PRODUCTION COMPANY. OUR GOAL IS TO LEAD THE WAY IN A COMPETITIVE BUDDING NEW INDUSTRY WHILE STAYING TRUE TO ORGANIC FOOD PRODUCTION. SOUTH RIVER AQUAPONICS IS DEDICATED TO THE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT OF OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
