Hospital & Health Care - Exeter, England, United Kingdom
The Inaugural South West Plastic Surgery Conference 2018 aims to bring insight into the exciting field of plastic surgery to medical students in the South West. This is the first event of its kind and is being organised by the Exeter Surgical Society, with support from Society patron, Mr Vikram Devaraj FRCS (Plast). We hope to overcome the barrier of access to undergraduate plastic surgery opportunities in the South West. This conference will take place on Saturday, 5th May 2018 at the RILD building, Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The morning lectures, delivered by expert plastic surgeons, will explore the plastic surgery specialty, its subspecialties and provide practical tips on how students can get into the most competitive surgical specialty. We will also be hosting a poster competition and practical workshops in basic plastics suturing skills and knot-tying, flap design and tendon repair - all practical skills commonly used by plastic surgeons.Lunch and tea are included in this event. We are accepting abstract submissions of any audit, SSU/SSC, case report, elective or other research project associated with plastic surgery (including hand surgery, dermatological surgery or surgery in general). Submissions will be judged by a panel and those selected will be invited to present their poster with a chance of winning the poster competition. To be considered, please submit a 250-word structured abstract to southwestpsc@gmail.com, by SATURDAY 14TH APRIL, 23:59.Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn and experience more about the plastic surgical specialty in the South West.
