Southeastern Diabetes Education Services (SDES) is a 501c3 non-profit serving Alabama and Northwest Florida. Join us in our mission to "educate, encourage, and empower children with diabetes and their families to live well." SDES provides provides diabetes camps and community education programs that teach self-care of diabetes, nutrition, active living, and provide peer support and encouragement to children and families impacted by diabetes. Hundreds of youth with diabetes come each year to Camp Seale Harris for a medically-supervised, fun camp experience and family connection to year-round support that helps them fight diabetes every day.Camp Seale Harris isn't just a place on a map. It's a shared experience and a feeling of community. Children and teens try new things, learn new skills, and make life-long friends. They become more independent and confident. Many become leaders and mentors. It's where they connect and are inspired to live well. SDES connects people living with Type 1 diabetes year round in support groups and special events assisting with the Type 1 journey from childhood to beyond. Camps happen year round in week-long, day, and weekend sessions in twelve cities and communities throughout Alabama and Northwest Florida including Auburn/Opelika, Birmingham, Cullman, Dothan, Huntsville, Lake Martin, Mobile, Montgomery/River Region, Pensacola/NW Florida, Tuscaloosa/W Alabama.Over 2,000 individuals, foundations, and businesses donate each year to make sure every child with diabetes is served.
