The Southern Chiefs Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) was launched in 2018, with the intention to enhance and strengthen the economic base of SCO's 34 Southern Manitoba First Nation members. SCEDC will focus its efforts towards the pursuit of economic reconciliation in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships in order to create employment and training opportunities for Indigenous workers on a full-time or contract basis."The SCEDC has created an opportunity for our community members to gain meaningful employment and training. However, it is also an opportunity for us to participate as full equal partners in private enterprise across the province. It is an opportunity for our youth to rise out of the turmoil of living in poverty and into prosperity. My message is clear, the south is open for business.
