College/University - Port Melbourne, N/A, AU
Since 1986, SouthPort Community Centre (formerly Port Melbourne Neighbourhood Centre) has provided a broad range of Education, Inclusion and Wellbeing programs to over 400 disadvantaged and isolated locals each week. These programs help participants manage daily life, deal with disability, overcome disadvantage and social isolation towards employment, education, and social inclusion. Our inclusion & wellbeing programs provide social connection and wellbeing for disadvantaged and isolated locals, as early intervention support to prevent further ill-health, risk and disadvantage. Our education programs provide skills, support, and pathways out of disadvantage, with many of our graduates achieving significant skills and outcomes. SPCC has been recognised for providing outstanding & innovative educational programs to disadvantaged communities - receiving Victorian Learn Local awards in 2015 & 2016. These SPCC initiatives and programs facilitate an active citizenship and a stronger, resilient and more inclusive community.Over the past year we have adapted many of programs to meet changing community need during COVID, and will continue to consult with local community to ensure our programs meet changing need going forward through post-COVID recovery.
