Dr. Maria Montessori, engineer, physician, and educator, developed a new way of teaching young children by observing their behaviors, at the early part of the 20th century. The methodology is based on a deep respect for the child who in turn, shows respect for himself, others, and his environment. We honor where the child is and help them get to the next step.Southwest Montessori Academy opened in 2013 with a total of eight students and three staff members. We have reached our maximum enrollment of 40 students, have 7 staff members and have built a community of parents and teachers who are excited about working together to serve our students! We have a passion for helping children reach their full potential and foster their love of learning.Our Primary program is for children ages three to six years old (preschool through Kindergarten) working and learning together in the same classroom. We provide each student a personalized learning experience in an environment that is not only beautiful, but ready for each student to become independent, confident, compassionate and engaged learners. Our teachers have all received a Montessori credential from accredited teacher training centers and are passionate about guiding children to be contributing members of our community.We also offer Parent Education courses such as "Parenting the Positive Discipline Way", "Math, the Montessori Way", "Montessori At Home", and many more opportunities for the whole family in order to build a strong family-school partnership in order to best serve the needs of each student. We bring families together for social events and we have built an incredible community at Southwest Montessori Academy that the pages of our website can only begin to capture.
