Children with disabilities in developing countries are often neglected and living isolated from society. They are less likely to access education and basic healthcare. Their disability puts them at a higher risk of abuse and growing up in poverty. We work to improve the lives of children with disabilities and their families in developing countries. We do so by working together with a selection of local partners. Together we create lasting change. The programmes we support focus on: - Strengthening children with disabilities through rehabilitation services, adapted physical activity, provision of medication and assistive devices; - Creating access to quality formal and non-formal education; - Connecting able-bodied and disabled children and teaching them valuable life skills and to stand up for themselves in society; - Educating families on dealing with disability and creating opportunities to develop their livelihoods; - Raise awareness about disability in local communities. We monitor the progress of the children and their families throughout their interaction in the programmes to ensure everyone achieves their maximum potential. S4S' Vision A world in which disability is accepted and children with disabilities have equal rights and opportunities as able-bodied people, allowing them to take part in society and achieve their full potential. S4S' Mission To work towards realisation of equal rights and inclusion of children with disabilities and their families.Awards and recognition2014 - Runner Up Best Social Responsibility Programme - Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce2013 – Winner – BNdeStem Development Award 2013 – Nominee – Rockefeller Innovation Award2012 – Shortlisted Best Practise Market – Nelson Mandela Children's Fund & Sport for Social Change Network of Southern Africa 2010 – Best New Project – Beyond Sport Awards2008 – Best Social Responsibility Programme – Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce
