Nonprofit Organization Management - San Francisco, California, United States
Founded by 16-year-old technologist Kirill Vologodskiy, SpotFinder is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the safe practice of action sports, with a focus on empowering underprivileged teens and adults.Action sports create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. They develop an entrepreneurial mindset by making the person more self-driven, better at calculating risks, and developing a growth mindset. For teens who have few other outlets for expressing their individuality and releasing adrenaline, action sports are a healthy and low-cost activity that can be practiced in public spaces - a great alternative to developing unhealthy habits on city streets or spending many hours on computer games. SpotFinder seeks to make healthy lifestyles available to all by promoting action sports like skateboarding, BMX, surfing, and many others and giving people access to educational material, safety tips, and safe places to ride or skate. Our website SpotFinder.org is the first stage of our work. It will unite people in the action sports community, allowing them to share places ("spots") for practicing their sport and learning from each other. The launch date is expected to be in late fall 2018, so stay tuned!
