On July the 4th, 1923, Oliver Brown dedicated the Spring Lake Memorial Community House to honor the veterans of World War I who were citizens of Spring Lake. He donated the Community House and the land on which is stands for the purpose of providing a place for cultural, educational and civic development. He stated that the future of the Community House would be "in the hands of the friends it makes for itself."For ninety years the Community House has served the people of the Spring Lake area nobly. During the past thirty-six years especially, it has been the home of the highly acclaimed Spring Lake Theatre Company and a children's Theatre Workshop and Dance Program. This is a very rare place that is constantly alive with the arts, children's programs and civic groups, as well as the Spring Lake Public Library. The Community House is a non-profit organization; a Charitable Trust completely separate from the Borough of Spring Lake.
