Financial Services - Springfield, Illinois, United States
The Springfield Legacy Investment Club (SLIC) is an investment club originating in Springfield High School. The club was inspired and created by high schooler Raj Sinha II. Springfield did not have any business or investment clubs to influence high schoolers. SLIC was created to teach high school students the major aspects of business and money management. The club is designed for students to specifically learn and participate in sales, marketing, accounting, governance, web site design and investing. SLIC educates by establishing a business model of raising capital through donation presentations, advertising, and social networking. The capital raised will be invested in equities to attain experience in investing real capital for long term growth. SLIC is overseen by a board of directors, booster club and bylaws. The club consists of four officers who plan and run monthly club meetings. Club meeting agendas typically include member presentations reviewing current investments, evaluating new opportunities, and updates on investment sectors. In addition, a broad financial topic is presented by members or guest speakers.Donors will receive a quarterly email report on how the investments are performing. The club will advertise donor business links on our website. The website will also contain club information such as quarterly reports and real time portfolio performance. Our primary mission is to excite and educate young students by developing the experience and skills to succeed in business. SLIC ultimately establishes a legacy fund for building projects to benefit Springfield area schools in the future.
