Coaching ExperienceAll ages and skills welcome: previous students have ranged from 11 to 70 years old. There have been first timers holding a racket to seasoned veterans looking to brush up their skills. FormatPrivate, semi-private, and group lessons.Testimonials: View student testimonials at https://www.coachup.com/me/squashfundamentals Philosophy:Everyone has different motivations and needs. Our goal is to understand where you are right now and help you jump to the next level. We will carefully watch your movement and technique, customize drills to you, provide you with high expectations and highly specific feedback, and a lot of encouragement. The aim is to surprise you with how quickly you improve. Focusing on and eliminating your current weakest area is the fastest way to level up in squash -- and it's also the most fun! Specialties Ball Control Decision Making Deep Shots Drop Shots Footwork Form Serves Strategy Wall ShotsSample session plan with an intermediate player:Racket skills:1. I observe your grip and watch your swing mechanics. I identify errors in technique that may be blocking your accuracy or power.2. I provide a demonstration of correct form. You practice, I provide feedback, and I can videotape you so you can literally see your error. Then, you continue to practice sometimes with a ball and sometimes without a ball. We incorporate movement in the drill. Then, you test your new technique in a game. You will receive exercises to complete between sessions.Shot technique:1. I observe you doing rails, cross-courts, volleys, drop shots, lobs, serves, serve return on your own and when being fed the ball by me. I identify blockers in your shot technique.2. I provide a demonstration of proper technique and then allow you to practice, I provide video feedback if desired, I have you try it again without a ball, then with me feeding you the ball, then with me as your opponent. You will receive exercises to complete between sessions.Court sense and movement:1. I observe your "court sense" and movement: I play rallies with you or I observe you in rallies with other players. I identify areas of weakness we can tackle together.2. If you are returning too slowly to the T, we will practice ghosting. If shot selection is your weakest link, we will play condition games. You will receive exercises to complete between sessions.Fitness1. I put you in a pressure session (I feed the ball to diagonal corners of the court, you run to return it, repeat), you do high-pressure ghosting (same but with no ball), you run court sprints, and you do calisthenics (push ups, crunches, sprints, etc). I identify potential areas of weakness we can work on together.2. We come up with a customized fitness regimen focused on whatever your current weakest area is: strength, endurance, or flexibility. We do a fitness session together, and then I give you additional exercises you can complete between sessions or at home.
