SQx is a collective of artists lead by Jorge Crecis dedicated to high profile research, creation and dissemination of dance. Research: Jorge Crecis is currently a PhD candidate at Goldsmiths University of London, focusing on methodologies for training and replicating higher states of consciousness for dancers in performance. SQx is currently establishing a series of partnerships with key organisations to research the use of mobile devices as a vehicle for enhancing audience empathy and perception in order to make performing arts more accessible and appealing. Creation: SQx has been commissioned by companies based in the UK, Europe, Russia, and China and also by postgraduate companies such as EDge, Mapdance and Intoto. Our own creations have been supported by ACE, British Council, the Office for Cultural and Scientific Affairs of the Embassy of Spain in the United Kingdom and the Spanish Ministry of Culture. Our most important creations are: -‘36'. Own Creation performed over 50 times in seven different countries -‘Kingdom' commissioned by Scottish Dance Theatre - ‘Trans la Valo' Commissioned by Beijing NINE Contemporary Dance Theatre - ‘Appreciate'. Jorge was appointed as personal Movement Director of Sir Paul McCartney. Participation: We are aiming to transfer the research and the knowledge gathered through our creations to a wider spectrum of the population in order to increase awareness in daily chores and hopefully assist people in living fuller lives. Last year we engaged with more than 3500 participants in Canada, and nearly 5000 people in the UK. Our objective now is to continue bridging the gap and share the experiences and knowledge gathered through research and creations in order to offer the best possible experience to both participants and audiences, not only during the process but also in the result.
