ABOUT USIn October 1907, at the request of Pope Saint Pius X, the Jesuits founded St Aloysius College at Birkirkara, in the building which presently houses the Secondary school. The first school day at the College, 14th October 1907, saw 64 boarders, 56 day boys and 30 externs. Today, the student population is just over 1500.For over a century, through the service of generations of Jesuits and lay teachers, the College has educated thousands of students, in preparation for their immersion into society as men and women for others, in the spirit of St Ignatius of Loyola. The aim of St Aloysius College is the formation of Christian "men and women for others". In order to reach this goal, the College enables students to become competent in their studies, giving them the opportunity to be men and women of conscience full of compassion and committed to Christian values. In collaboration with parents and the community at large, we strive to educate youth in the service of the Faith that necessarily includes the promotion of justice. Our Vision StatementThe educational community at St. Aloysius College is inspired by Christ's teachings and a faith that promotes evangelical justice.Through Ignatian Pedagogy, we strive to holistically empower all students to excel in their abilities and develop their conscience to discern God's will in their lives.Together we aspire to foster compassionate and responsible men and women with others and for others, committed to the poor and persons in need.We promote dialogue with people of other cultures and religious traditions in a common effort to build a more peaceful and ecologically just world.
