Healthcare Facility/Healthcare Services - Baton Rouge, LA, US
Louisiana's Premier Continuing Care Retirement Community for 30 years! In the late 1970's, a group of forward-thinking parishioners of St. James Episcopal Church in downtown Baton Rouge envisioned a full-service retirement community that would be seen as the first choice for active, successful aging. This community would offer a high quality lifestyle and a lifetime of enrichment satisfying the widest possible range of needs. St. James Place opened in 1983, fulfilling that vision, and became the first retirement community in the state of Louisiana. Its 52 lush, rolling acres provide the perfect setting for Living Life Well on property that was once the Duplantier Plantation. The majestic Duplantier Oak, over 220 years old, is the symbolic centerpiece of the community, an example of strength, beauty, and character. A multi-million dollar expansion and renovation in 2001 positioned St. James Place as a leader in senior living in the Gulf South region with standards prized by seniors of today. Further positioning St. James Place as a leader in senior living, the installation of campus-wide generators was completed in 2012 giving St. James Place the ability to remain fully operational in the event of a power outage. Residents, families, and staff share in the peace of mind in knowing that care and services will go uninterrupted. St. James Place remains sponsored by St. James Episcopal Church and governed by a Board of Directors comprised of business leaders, Episcopal clergy, and community civic leaders. It is guided by a professional staff and Resident Council, which meets monthly to represent the ideas, opinions, compliments, and concerns of all residents.
