St James Turramurra is an evangelical Anglican church located on Sydney's north shore. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and so the focus of our time together is on listening to God's word and seeking to put it into practice in our daily lives. Our church's aim is "reaching and teaching people to be disciples of Christ". Jesus has commissioned his people to proclaim the gospel to every tribe, language and nation, and as they respond to his call, to baptise them and to teach them to obey his words and walk in his ways (Matt 28:16-20). We should all be ‘disciples who make disciples'. As we proclaim Christ to the world we also seek to be like Christ in the world. We aim to be a church who reflect the love and compassion of Jesus. We want our ‘light to shine before all people that they may see our good deeds and praise our heavenly Father' (see Matt 5:16). Our church is a ‘family' and a ‘body'. We are a family because God has adopted us as his children, and we seek to live that out in personal relationship of love, care and forgiveness. We are a body that Christ has assembled and given differing gifts so that we can work together to serve him and one another (1 Cor 12). We offer a diversity of service styles, from very traditional (7:45AM Holy Communion) to a very contemporary (Sunday Night Church), so that there is an opportunity for everyone to find a church service that best enables them to join with God's people in corporate worship.
