Civic & Social Organization - New York, New York, United States
The St Joseph Worker Program, Queens is a year-long (August to June) volunteer program for women, aged 21-30, committed to social change. Our four core pillars are leadership, community, spirituality, and social justice. While we are rooted in the mission of the Sisters of St Joseph, we are an interfaith and interspiritual program. Our volunteers live in an intentional community, growing in personal communication and relationship building, while being placed 36 hrs a week at one of our partner organizations for their service opportunity. Placement sites in NYC are related to eldercare, community organizing, advocacy, campus ministry and social work. Our program provides monthly workshops, retreats, volunteer community housing, communal food budget, monthly metrocard, health insurance, if needed, and an individual personal monthly stipend.
