Ampleforth College is a Catholic, Benedictine, boarding and day school for boys and girls in North Yorkshire, England. This British, co-educational school first opened in 1802. It is run by the Benedictine monks of Ampleforth Abbey and the lay staff of Ampleforth College. The students each belong to one of ten houses: St Aidan's, St Bede's, St Cuthbert's, St Dunstan's, St Edward's and St Wilfrid's, St Hugh's, St John's, St Margaret's, St Oswald's and St Thomas'. The large campus is situated in a beautiful valley with sports pitches, wooded areas and lakes. Its affiliated preparatory school, St Martin's Ampleforth, is located across the valley at Gilling Castle.
