The college is named in the loving memory of its Patron, Pope St. Pius X who made the Knanaya community as a separate Diocese of Kottayam in the year 1911. This college was a realization of a long cherished dream of the great visionary, learned scholar, philosopher, teacher and orator, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mar Kuriakose Kunnassery, former Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kottayam. Initially the college started with three job oriented courses namely BSc. Microbiology, Bsc. Physics and BA Economics. Fuelled by the desire to provide the common people of this migrated region an avenue for pursing higher education, the management got sanction from the government to add two more degree courses- BBA and Bsc. Computer Science during the year 1999 and 2001 respectively. In 2013 government sanctioned M.A Development Economics and B.Com courses as aided courses. The college got NAAC Accreditation with B+ in the year 2005. The college got re accredited with NAAC A grade in the year 2014. Under the loving patronage of his grace Mar. Mathew Moolakkattu, Archbishop of the archdiocese of Kottayam Arch Eparchy and with the parental care and able guidance of the present manager, Rt. Rev. Mar Joseph Pandarasseril, Auxiliary bishop of Kottayam, the college is making rapid progress in the field of higher education. Every year the college produces several university toppers in various departments. The kind of education envisaged by the institution is all encompassing. Apart from academics and co-curricular activities the college aims at the complete personality development based on sound values.
