The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Plymouth is a "conference" of people from the community caring for and addressing the needs of our poor and suffering neighbors and friends. The Plymouth Conference has been active in our community since 1961-over 50 years of service! and is just one of the conferences within the Sheboygan County Council. We ultimately belong to both the SVDP Milwaukee Archdiocese Council and the SVDP Council of the United States. St. Vincent de Paul Plymouth offers one-on-one personal assistance to those who ask for help. There are many people, although you may not see them, which are in need or are suffering. The Society's goal is to find those people and help, so that their lives and spirits may grow. To fulfill our goals, the Plymouth Conference first depends on members and other volunteers to help. The Plymouth Conference is currently made up of 36 members and more than 100 volunteers who work together to make a difference. Also, members otherwise known as "Vincentians," are responsible for following the "Rule," directing services and support, calling on individuals and families through home visits, and finding new ways to help the poor and suffering in our community. Vincentians build a bridge of communication and friendship, with families or people that are needing help. Through this contact, the Conference stays abreast of the problems in our community and can better develop effective new programs. Through prayer, financial assistance, counseling, mentoring, as well as, in-kind help through our Plymouth Community Store, we help people in need. Regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or religion; Vincentians see the face of Christ in those they serve. Our focus is on quality, not quantity. Our faith is our inspiration and motivation. Our goal is all work of charity and justice. Love in action! Live your faith!
