St. Xavier's School Doranda, Ranchi, is named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th Century who travelled to India. It was founded in 1960 and is managed by the Fathers of the Society of Jesus popularly known as Jesuits. It is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. It prepares students for the ICSE (10th - only boys) and ISC (12th – Co-ed) examinations conducted by the Council.The Plus Two section was flagged off to a flying start by Fr. James Lakra, S.J. & Fr. Ajit Kr. Xess, S.J. in 2001. The first chief co-coordinator to implement their vision was the late Mr. Hira Prasad, one of the founder teachers of St. Xavier's School, Doranda. Now the School conducts classes for Plus Two in Science and Commerce streams.The management of the School is vested in the Ranchi Jesuit Society. The President of the Governing Body is Rev. Fr. Provincial of the Ranchi Jesuit Province.The School is intended primarily for the education of Catholic boys, particularly of the Tribal Community. However, with due regard to the strength of each class and the academic ability of the pupil, students of all religious persuasions are admitted, without any interference with their respective creeds. The School makes a preferential option for the marginalized and seeks to give an all-round formation, inculcating both human and spiritual values.The school follows a new and outstanding curriculum with expert faculty members to unravel the joys of learning. Innovative methods, based on the Integral Pedagogical Paradigm cater to both the intellectual and affective dimensions conducive to overall moral, religious and aesthetic aspects of growth - an integrated approach to harmonize all the elements required for the formation of fine human beings.
