We, Brittni Howard and Nialena Ali, co-founded SSSA to have a positive social impact in Kasoa, Ghana while making our participants better able to address issues of inequality and injustice in the world. Having witnessed both a rise in volunteer tourism and a lack of diversity education in many study abroad programs, we were inspired to create SSSA.Through our summer program, our participants work alongside Ghanaian humanitarian organizations on their public health, STEM, and education campaigns, while also taking classes that shed light on the socio-political events that contribute to local problems and successes. With our holistic approach, participants have an enhanced learning experience and the community has more capable and informed volunteers. We are committed to making international travel and global learning inclusive, accessible and affordable. We believe that engaging in critical thinking and human rights work should not be limited to an elite few, rather should be pursued by all who possess the passion and commitment to learn, grow and build community. We are challenging stereotypes and diversifying the industry by providing university-level academic content, international experience, and professional development to people from all backgrounds. We believe that everyone has something to learn and something to contribute to the world. Join us today!
