The Steenkampskraal Mine is located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is an existing mine that has previously been in operation, producing a monazite concentrate that was sold mostly for its thorium content. Steenkampskraal has the highest concentration of Rare Earth Elements (REE) and Thorium in the world. It has a resource of about of 605,000 tons at an average grade of 14.4% Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO) for a total of 86, 900 tons contained TREO. The mine has a thorium measured and indicated resource of 11,700 tons thorium oxide.
