Steeple Square, formerly St. Mary's Church, is now a non-profit organization focused on meeting the needs of those in the Washington neighborhood and city-wide. The former church is now Dubuque’s most unique, vibrant event space, the Steeple Square Community Event Center, hosting a wide-range of events including weddings, receptions, business meetings/conferences, family celebrations/reunions/graduation parties, celebration of life events, non-profit/community events, arts and cultural events, and more. The ground floor will have space for education, training and community meetings. The former rectory is the future site of the Marita Theisen Childcare Center, which will serve up to 72 children and is scheduled to open in August 2019. The former school is now the Francis Apartments, permanent supportive and market-rate housing. In the heart of the campus will be green space with a playscape for all in the community to enjoy.
