STEL Technologies, LLC is a regenerative medicine company that engineers biological tissue implants for tissue replacements and repairs of musculoskeletal injuries. STEL was founded in April 2013 by two faculty of the University of Michigan, Dr. Lisa Larkin and Dr. Ellen Arruda, and their former PhD student, Dr. Michael Smietana. Our mission is to restore the health of patients by offering medical professionals cell-generated matrix implants that initiate and drive physiological repairs of soft tissue injuries. Our first product is a biological replacement for one of the main stabilizing ligaments of the knee, the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). For all ACL injury patients, the STEL ligament graft is a transformational, cell-generated matrix that initiates and drives a physiological regeneration and will allow orthopaedic surgeons to optimally restore their patients' normal knee function. Because it is a natural tissue matrix that recapitulates native remodeling, growth, and maturation, orthopaedic surgeons can feel secure and confident that the STEL ligament graft provides the absolute best ACL regeneration solution for their patients.
